Christy Barritt, Local Author

Photobucket

Christy Barritt was the guest speaker for our writers group this month. She spoke to us regarding publishing, and finding an agent. She also answered numerous questions from our inquisitive group.

Her books are available at Amazon.com, including her new release, “KEEPING GUARD.” Here is a link to her website. And if you Google her name, you will find several interviews and websites that feature some of her work.

She is a wife, mother of two small boys; and is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

I hope you’ll check out her writing.

Calligraphy by Rachel

I bought this at a recent meeting of our writers group. Made by a lady at our church, there were several colors and patterns from which to choose. This heavy red cardstock cut and folded into a nice frame, appealed to me. Each one had a different quote; and since Helen Keller’s words have always touched me,  the choice was easy. It now hangs on the inspiration board in my studio, encouraging me to do my best.

Do you have something special that inspires you?

KPC Writers Group Prompt for February 2011: A Shadow

Life’s path meanders to and fro

Curving just so

To mountains high and valleys low.

At times the sun’s warmth may sear

And then the dark storm clouds appear.

Do we clutch our hearts and faint in fear?

Or do we reach for the Saviour’s Hand that’s near?

His rod and staff

Do comfort bring

As He leads us toward that eternal spring.

When shadows fall

Across our path

Do we fear impending wrath?

Do we listen to the lies of one

Who would tell us we are all alone…

And for our sins we must atone?

Or do we lift our eyes

And look upon

The Face of God,

Christ Jesus, the Son?

Who said we’d never walk alone,

He’d come alongside

As we press on.

Do you know how His story goes?

That He paid the debt

He did not owe?

His blood became the sacrifice

That carries us

From Death to Life.

Life’s path meanders to and fro

Curves just so

To mountains high and valleys low.

Which way, will YOU go?
