Random Thoughts and Shots

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 78
Random 5 Friday

1. If you want to see birds, go where there is water and people with food. It’s like a magnetic attraction or something.2.  The vinca is becoming one with the chain-link fence. I might just let it.3.  Lots of birds were soaking up the sun at the waterfront in New Bern, NC. I was a little surprised to see a pigeon hanging with the gulls.

4.  Found this in the wildflower garden.5.  This pavilion sits on the waterfront near the marina, adjacent to the convention center. I wonder how they keep the copper roof looking so nice.
That’s it for this week’s randomness. Linking to:

Random 5 Friday

It’s Friday–and I’m finally getting my post done for Random 5 FridayYou can click this link to see what others have posted.

1. The week started off stormy, including a tornado warning; mid-week  a humid 96 degrees suffocated us; Thursday another storm system blew our way. Fortunately, south of the Chesapeake Bay (where we are) was spared the 70 mph winds.

2. Today I had to wear a jacket while working in the yard. Talk about random weather! Here’s one of my projects:

Added heliopsis and gaillardia to a container with vinca.

3. The company hubby works for is in the process of moving a store location this month and the main warehouse by September. The amount of work to make this happen is overwhelming.

4. Another Black Swallowtail butterfly emerged and was released Thursday (before the storm).

5. Today must be the last day of school. The buses were loaded, children squealing with delight, horns honking. It’s funny how one no longer keeps track of such things when the children are grown.

That’s it for my randomness this week. The Lord bless you and keep you.

Updates 4/15/11

Since I’m working (using this term loosely) on a new Inspiration Monday topic, I thought I’d slack off update previous posts.

To refresh your memory, I had this pile of flowers, shells and ribbon:

It now looks like this:

The buds on the azaleas are starting to open:

And the vinca has a TON of blooms now.

Thanks for stopping by to visit. I hope you have a great weekend!

Spring Color

Vinca never disappoints. It’s usually the first color to appear in our garden.

Loropetalum isn’t too far behind. Also called “Fringe Flower.”

I had to look closely and zoom in to capture a tiny bud on the azalea.

Oh, if all flowers could be as hardy and prolific as the dandelion! It’s very bright, though, like a little ray of sunshine.

And, in case you were wondering,

I got the first two layers of leaves on the grapevine wreath this weekend.

Tuesday is forecast to be a stormy day; hopefully I’ll get some more work done on it.

I hope your week has gotten off to a good start.

How was your Monday?
