Good Fences #38

Good Fences

I snapped a quick shot of the airport terminal with my iPhone 6 Plus on our way to pick up Taylor when she returned from Guatemala. You know airports have good fences, barricades, you name it.

Washington Dulles International Airport – This link will show you what it looks like during the day.

Share Your World–2014 Week 2

Cee, at Share Your World, posted her questions today. I hope you’ll join in the fun and share your answers–either in your own post or in the comments below.

1. If you had to move to a country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move, and why?
This is a tough one, since I have not traveled much. It would definitely be somewhere warm!

2. Music or silence while working?
That would depend on the project. I prefer music for most, but quiet when writing.

3. What is your favorite color?
I like color, period. I guess my preferences lie in dusty, muted earth tones.
Ranger Ink used to make a line of twelve chalk ink pads called Antiquities. That color palette has always been a favorite. Some of the names are: California Stucco, Ocher, Verdigris, Terra Cotta, Cobalt, Claret, Tanzanite.

4. Do you have a bucket list? What are your three items? A bucket list are things you want to do before you die.
No, I’ve never made a bucket list.

Share Your World–Week 50

It’s time to Share Your World! Once again, Cee has come up with some interesting questions. Feel free to create your own blog post and link to Cee’s, or leave your answers in the comments section below. share-your-world2

  1. If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?
  2. Are you mostly a clean or messy person?
  3. What is the most enjoyable team or club you have belonged to and what was it that made it so?
  4. What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $50? Why?

1. If I were going to move, the three things I would take from this house are an antique side-by-side cabinet, the L-shaped glass-topped desk, and all the outdoor bird feeders, complete with birds. Home is where my birdies are. 🙂
Speaking of birds, our first dark-eyed junco arrived today! And I saw a mostly-yellow warbler, but not long enough to identify. Hopefully, I’ll have pictures soon!

2. With a bookkeeping/accounting brain, I am a clean person, but with a chronic physical condition, it doesn’t look that way. I am learning to deal with it.

3. The most enjoyable group for me is my local writers group. We meet at Kempsville Presbyterian Church the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. If you’re in the area, join us!

4. The most enjoyable way to spend $50…hmmm. Oh, I can think of so many great ways to spend that–gasoline to visit family, art supplies, books; but one of the most enjoyable would be meeting up with some local blogging buddies for lunch and fellowship.

The rest of you need to move closer! Now, it’s your turn–I can’t wait to read your responses.

Weekend Wardrobe

Sorry, I’m running late with my Monday post.

Our Friday-Saturday trip to visit the family was extended to Sunday by a plumbing project.

Men at work

I know you are asking yourselves what kind of plumbers these guys are, as this isn’t the typical “plumber pose” we are accustomed to seeing. I guess this is what one gets for free, the other comes with a higher price tag.

I hadn’t packed for an extra day, so a visit to Kai-Le’s Boutique was in order.

Finding appropriate attire

This is much more stylish than anything I would have found in my closet.

I know you're jealous 🙂

Five for Friday #3

It’s Friday, and you know what that means…yes, I’ve LOST a few days this week! If you find them, please send them back. I’m offering a reward.

Today, I will share five travel-related facts about me.

1. We have visited lighthouses along the North Carolina coast and Outer Banks, but have not been to the Cape Henry lighthouse in Virginia Beach. According to, it is 18 minutes and fewer than 11 miles away.

2. January 2010 was the first time I ever flew in an airplane.

3. In 35 years of marriage, hubby and I have never had a week’s vacation with just the two of us. (We hope to change that come October).

4. I like riding a train. We’ve taken a couple of day-long excursions with steam engines, and rode Amtrak to Florida…and back.

5. My first car was a burgundy 1962 Chevy II convertible, given to me by my sister-in-law.

I hope you have fun this holiday weekend, if you travel, buckle up; don’t drink and drive; and please put the cell phone down while driving. You and a lot of other people will be glad you did.
