Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

I sat, pondering a post for Thursday. I haven’t been out for fence pictures, so there are no Good Fences to blog about.

There is always something for which to be thankful, and tonight, it’s peripheral vision.

The slightest movement got my attention. I turned my head and caught a glimpse of a medium-sized spider as it slipped behind the blanket rack. I bypassed the camera and went straight for a disposable Dixie cup and a thin-but-sturdy piece of paper from the recycle bin. There was NO WAY I was going to squish a spider that size! With sleight of hand the cup covered all eight of those hairy legs, slipped the paper between the cup and the wall, and promptly showed the unwelcome visitor the front door. I may enter and exit via the back door tomorrow.

What do you have to be thankful for today? Have any close encounters lately?

I’m thankful for my friend, Merle, who makes possible my frequent visits to the Norfolk Botanical Garden. I see the beauty of God’s creation not only in the gardens, but in Merle, also. I am blessed beyond measure. Thank you, Merle.

Many of you know of our local Bald Eagle family that I’ve featured here on the blog. Their nest is holding up a construction project, and there is a real threat of the nest being destroyed. Please help save our eagle family by signing this petition. Thank you.

Thankful Thursday
Skywatch Friday

I’m thankful for this place I call home.

I love the feel of bare feet on warm sand,
Water tossed to and fro, changed by the weather at hand.
Sea breezes ask tendrils of hair to dance.
For all these things I offer praise, and thanks.

Thankful Thursday–LWCF

Thankful Thursday
Land & Water Conservation Fund

Only recently did I learn of the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

This sign was posted in the new city park I visited. Clicking the blue link above, or the sign itself, will take you to the website where you can learn more about LWCF, what is being done in your state, etc. I discovered it supports over six million non-exportable jobs

I’m thankful for the preservation of natural areas, historical sites, employment opportunities, and green space so all of us can enjoy the great outdoors.

Thankful Thursday

I’m thankful for our granddaughter’s heart for missions, and her safe travels. She spent Thanksgiving week in Guatemala, and was met at the airport by her whole family (including us) upon her return. She endured many lifestyle changes this year when it was discovered she has chemical sensitivities. Her diet and living environment were turned upside down, but that couldn’t distract her from her life purpose. What a blessing and encouragement she is to all of us.
