Random 5 Friday

Nancy’s Random 5 Friday is back! I’m running late this week, I hope her “A Rural Journal” bus hasn’t left without me.

1. The Christmas shopping is done; gifts yet to be wrapped. Time to put the hubby to work…as soon as he wakes from his nap!

2. We had a high temperature of 81 today! It didn’t take long to drop 20 degrees when the sun set and the wind picked up. Tomorrow (Monday) calls for rain and 72, Tuesday’s high 45. That’s just not right.

3.  We didn’t put up the tree this year, but we did put lights in the windows and a new wreath on the front door.

4. I saw a new bird in the yard around sunset. It was bright green all over, and was eating seed on the ground with the Song Sparrow. I imagine it was someone’s exotic bird, haven’t been able to identify it yet.

5. I stocked up on Mermaids on Parade photos to get us through winter, hopefully!

This one’s tail has been wrapped in greenery, and mini-light strands encircle her. I wish I could have seen her illuminated.

We’ll be traveling some this week, and won’t have internet available in some areas. I’ll try to check in on you when I can. If you celebrate the holiday–Merry Christmas!

Random 5 Friday

It’s the end of yet another week that went I know not where.
Here are my thoughts for Random 5 Friday.

1. I was in downtown Norfolk Wednesday and found another mermaid to share. This one is mounted above street level, in front of the NorVa, a performing theater/club. It opened in 1917 as a Vaudeville theater.

2. Going to stay with the grandkids for a few days while their mom goes to visit her grandfather. I may be absent from the blog during this time.

3. The new iPad Air release is NOVEMBER 1! Can you tell I’m excited? I don’t know how that got so far down the “random thought” list.

4. Lunch-with-hubby day will be a dinner date this week.

5. Our winter visitors are arriving. White-throated Sparrows and Yellow-rumped Warblers have made their appearances.

Not a very good photo, but the yellow patches are visible.

That’s it for Random 5 Friday this week. Have a great weekend!

Random 5 Friday

I can not believe it is time for Random 5 Friday again.  Where has the week gone? Here comes the randomness that is found in my brain. You have been warned.

1. We’ve been enjoying rain every day since Monday, and it is forecast to be with us a few more days. I use the term ‘enjoying’ loosely. It wasn’t as enjoyable when I had to get groceries yesterday. The gray days do lend the feeling of autumn, though temps are still 60s-70s.

2. That autumn feeling has rekindled my desire for hot tea. I just made a mug of Mint Medley herbal tea and it smells so good.  This morning I had Vanilla Caramel. Do you like to try new tea flavors?

3. Thursday is ‘lunch with hubby’ day. We went to Panera, which is a favorite. I had the Chicken Cobb with Avocado salad and Broccoli Cheddar soup. Yes, soup is sounding good again, too.

4. I didn’t finish this post last night, so it’s a new day. There is Stash (brand) Holiday Chai in my teacup now. This may be my favorite tea. I made some more pages in my mini scrapbook.backyard 2013 016

5. I found an older photo of another Norfolk mermaid taken during OpSail last year. Good thing, because the rainy weather hasn’t been good for mermaid hunting.

That’s the end of my Random 5 Friday post. Have a great weekend!

Random 5 Friday

Where did the week go? It’s time once again for Random 5 Friday. Nancy (the host) visited an alpaca farm this week. She has some great photos.

1. I stumbled onto another mermaid this week. She’s in front of a hospital, about a block from my doctor’s office. I happened to be traveling the opposite way on that road, for a change of scenery, and was rewarded with this:IMG_1060

She sparkled in the sunshine. Photo doesn't do it justice.

2. The bunny still comes to eat on the platform feeder, but now her visits are later, nearly dark. Last week a dove and cardinal double-teamed her and scared her off the feeder.

3. Our son-in-law at the Warrior Dash–I’ve never seen so much mud in my life!

4. I’m getting back into my daily exercise routine, and it feels good.

5. Our writers group facilitator (and dear friend) recently started a blog. She is wading into the world of getting her novels published. Would you be kind enough to visit and share some blog lovin’ with her? Click this link to get there. Thanks!

That’s it for my Random 5 Friday post. Have a great weekend!

1. I finally have another capture for the mermaid fans out there. She is located in front of a women’s clinic; I’ve been told she resembles the doctor’s wife.

2. My little backyard bunny and I had a talk yesterday. When I took birdseed out, it was across the yard near the butterfly bush. I filled the feeder and turned around and it was between me and the back door. We stood very still, looking at each other. I told it I was concerned that it wasn’t nearly as afraid of me as it should be–and with that, it darted off and out of sight. I’ll miss that little stinker.

3. Our daughter and her family just returned from vacation in Maine. They had a wonderful time, perfect weather, but didn’t get to see a real moose.

4. Details are being finalized at work, and the warehouse move is complete. Next week offices will be moved, and hubby will work closer to home. I will have to remember to go to the right location to pick him up for our weekly lunch date.

5. I have shopping to do today, so I’m out of here! Have a great weekend!
