Random on Monday

Hi! I’ve wanted to write a chatty post to update the happenings around here, and decided to use this format. Random 5 Friday has been discontinued, so I’m going to be Random on Monday this week.

1. I apologize for not visiting your blogs as much as I’d like in the past week or so. I’m still transferring files from the PC to the Mac, and moving hubby’s from his tiny netbook to the larger laptop PC. Then I’ve had to figure out where those files went sometimes!

2. We’ve been getting a lot of rain, the weeds are growing like, well, weeds! Those of you in the states ravaged by the recent spate of tornadoes and such have been on my heart and in my prayers. I hope you are all well.

3. I was in high gear last week, getting things in order at home to spend this week at my daughter’s. Then she called, things weren’t going according to plan there, so the trip was postponed.

4. Saturday was filled with yard work and housework; Sunday we took a much needed day of rest and ran away from home. We drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, took a short walk at a wildlife refuge to stretch our legs, then continued north to Chincoteague Island.

5. I met my new massage therapist today. She did a great job working on my knotty muscles, guess I won’t have to go to Japan, after all. (The last therapist’s husband was transferred there–and she went, too!)

Making a Mess of Monday

We spent the weekend at our daughter’s house and I’m having trouble getting reoriented with what I’m supposed to do here at home. It’s cold and rainy today, and I’m thankful the snow that was coming down when we left northern Virginia did not follow us home. They awoke to a white blanket covering the neighborhood this morning.

My friend, Susan, called and helped me get back on track. She reminded me our writers group meets tomorrow evening; neither of us has done the writing assignment yet. She’s been busy setting up book signings with local businesses, as she recently published her first book, “Stepping into the Wilderness.” You may know her as “Suzicate,” from her blog.

Here is a peek at another pastel exercise, choosing colors and making marks like Van Gogh. I didn’t even know he worked in pastels! The shapes were first sketched in charcoal, then filled with linear strokes and stabbing marks of color. 003

What did you do this weekend?

A Word A Day–Dose

I don’t know how she does it, but Nancy and her A Word A Day page, seem to have my number.  Today’s word is “Dose.” As a noun, it describes an amount of medication. Dosing is the verb, meaning I have been dosing myself with a dose of Robitussin to keep a cough under control. This is not to be confused with dozing, which is what I found myself doing a lot of this past weekend.

Good Stuff!

And it was a beautiful weekend here, not that I would have known, but I did notice the Weatherbug on my task bar said it got into the 70s today. I did manage to get dressed and go to the drug store before it closed–without a coat!

I tried to keep from breathing on this page, so go wash your hands and you should be safe from any germs that might have escaped. If it’s too late, I’ll be happy to share a dose of my Robitussin with you.

I hope your Monday is exceptional (in a good way).

Monday Morning Music

My clock radio is tuned to our local K-LOVE station, and I woke to this song this morning. I couldn’t think of a better way to start the week, so I’m sharing it with you, and hope it blesses you and brightens your day.

K-LOVE can be found in many areas, or you can listen online. Here’s where to find your local station, if available.

In my state of half-sleep, I also managed to knock over a glass of water that was sitting on the nightstand. Most of it went in the trash can that is positioned between the nightstand and bed. 🙂

How did your morning start?
