Friday’s Hunt v3.17

Friday’s Hunt

This week at Teresa’s, we’re looking for Starts with Q, Week’s Favorite, and Evening.

My camera is still at the shop, so I’ll be perusing the archives and iPhone for this week’s photos. Here goes!

Starts with Q: Quadrennium–a specified period of four years

Bailey Quinn achieved a quadrennium this past week, she’s now four!

Just Ducky

Just Ducky

Cee’s a bit under the weather this week, so there’s no Share Your World post. I’ll still be sharing my world with you, though, random as it might be.

A pair of Mallard ducks stop by for dinner, a little wading, a bit of a snooze, and then they’re off again until the next evening. DSCN4964

We hoped to visit “the kids” this past weekend, but our grandson tested positive for the flu earlier in the week. By Saturday, Z and Suzanne weren’t feeling well, and the number of patients in “quarantine” increases almost daily.

I finally got Suzanne’s birthday present made, and I’d love to share it with you–but I don’t want her to see it here first.

Hubby took his first-ever personal day off from work today. Too bad he had to work on a plumbing issue! Suzanne says he really knows how to enjoy a personal day.

Today was near 70F (21C). I filled feeders and put fresh water in the birdbaths (much needed after the ducks visited). Then I saw the pile of leaves I’d raked off one of the beds last week, so I bagged those. Container plants needed water. A lovely specimen of Spiny Sow Thistle sprung up next to the HVAC unit–nearly a foot tall, so I took that out before it multiplied. The Loropetalum and Spirea needed light pruning where the frost bit them. It’s amazing how many things one can find to do outside on a pretty day.

What have you been up to?

Friday’s Hunt v2.14

Friday’s Hunt

This week we’re hunting: Starts with N, Week’s Favorite, I Made This

If you’ve ever been to the Hampton Roads area (SE Virginia), you would appreciate this view of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT)–NO TRAFFIC

Photography composition recommends the horizon fall at 1/3 of the photo–sorry, I could NOT crop that gorgeous sky, even with the tint showing across the top of the windshield.

My Week’s Favorite is a recent colorful sunset.

For I Made This, a mixed-media journal cover work-in-progress. The birds are a stencil from StencilGirl Products.

Waiting to hear from our granddaughter who left Friday for a mission trip to Central America. She’ll be home for Christmas!

Share Your World–2016 Week 37

Share Your World

Here are Cee’s questions for this week, I hope you’ll share your answers, too!

Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelry?
One of our granddaughters used to give us a rock every time we left and headed for home. I also have a few my mom collected over the years. Most of them were used in creating a butterfly oasis–a sunny spot filled with sand and topped with rocks where they can dry their wings.

What is your greatest strength or weakness?
Unconditional LOVE.

What makes you feel grounded?
Knowing my feet are planted firmly on the Rock of my Salvation, Jesus Christ.

Would you rather never be able to eat warm food or never be able to eat cold food?
That would depend on where I lived. Cold food would be refreshing in a hot climate, and hot food warms one from the inside on a cold winter’s day.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful we got to spend the weekend with our birthday girl, and I’m looking forward to the Hampton Roads Writers Conference later this week. img_3393

Share Your World–2016 Week 36

Share Your World

Week 36? I think this happened last year, too–suddenly! I’m late getting started this week. After being cooped up early in the weekend by Hermine, then getting caught up on our sleep, Monday was the Perfect Day to work in the yard. Tuesday was the Perfect Day for a massage. Slowly, life is returning to normal.

Here are Cee’s questions, let get started!

If you were given a boat or yacht today, what would you name it?  (You can always sell the yacht later)
I can honestly say this is something I’ve never thought about! Sea Sick should work.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey) Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be?
I’m caught up on my sleep, so Sleepy is out. I stopped taking Zyrtec, no longer Dopey; may morph into Sneezy soon.

Name a song or two which are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places and Amazing Grace

Complete this sentence:  I like watching…
birds and butterflies.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful tropical storm Hermine was kind to us, and I’m looking forward to a Sweet 16 birthday soon! No, not mine. Second granddaughter’s.

I’m starting with my favorite shot of the week:

Recently-fledged House Finch keeping balanced when mom brings lunch. The feathery tufts atop the head always make me smile.

Y is for Kai-le when she was Younger:
