Friday’s Hunt v2.14

Friday’s Hunt

This week we’re hunting: Starts with N, Week’s Favorite, I Made This

If you’ve ever been to the Hampton Roads area (SE Virginia), you would appreciate this view of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT)–NO TRAFFIC

Photography composition recommends the horizon fall at 1/3 of the photo–sorry, I could NOT crop that gorgeous sky, even with the tint showing across the top of the windshield.

My Week’s Favorite is a recent colorful sunset.

For I Made This, a mixed-media journal cover work-in-progress. The birds are a stencil from StencilGirl Products.

Waiting to hear from our granddaughter who left Friday for a mission trip to Central America. She’ll be home for Christmas!

Here are Cee’s questions for this week, I hope you’ll share your answers, too!

Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelry?
One of our granddaughters used to give us a rock every time we left and headed for home. I also have a few my mom collected over the years. Most of them were used in creating a butterfly oasis–a sunny spot filled with sand and topped with rocks where they can dry their wings.

What is your greatest strength or weakness?
Unconditional LOVE.

What makes you feel grounded?
Knowing my feet are planted firmly on the Rock of my Salvation, Jesus Christ.

Would you rather never be able to eat warm food or never be able to eat cold food?
That would depend on where I lived. Cold food would be refreshing in a hot climate, and hot food warms one from the inside on a cold winter’s day.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful we got to spend the weekend with our birthday girl, and I’m looking forward to the Hampton Roads Writers Conference later this week. img_3393

Week 36? I think this happened last year, too–suddenly! I’m late getting started this week. After being cooped up early in the weekend by Hermine, then getting caught up on our sleep, Monday was the Perfect Day to work in the yard. Tuesday was the Perfect Day for a massage. Slowly, life is returning to normal.

Here are Cee’s questions, let get started!

If you were given a boat or yacht today, what would you name it?  (You can always sell the yacht later)
I can honestly say this is something I’ve never thought about! Sea Sick should work.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey) Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be?
I’m caught up on my sleep, so Sleepy is out. I stopped taking Zyrtec, no longer Dopey; may morph into Sneezy soon.

Name a song or two which are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places and Amazing Grace

Complete this sentence:  I like watching…
birds and butterflies.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful tropical storm Hermine was kind to us, and I’m looking forward to a Sweet 16 birthday soon! No, not mine. Second granddaughter’s.

Friday’s Hunt

This week we’re looking for Starts with Y, our Week’s Favorite, and In My Shoes.

I’m starting with my favorite shot of the week:

Recently-fledged House Finch keeping balanced when mom brings lunch. The feathery tufts atop the head always make me smile.

Y is for Kai-le when she was Younger:

When these shoes are on, we’re going hiking!

Friday’s Hunt v1.22

Friday’s Hunt

This week’s challenge is to find something for the letter ‘V,’ Week’s Favorite, and Sunshine. I’m glad we didn’t have the sunshine requirement before this, for there was little to be found!

I thought I might have to take up the violin, but then I remembered the trusty Vitex! This was taken in a previous year, as it hasn’t bloomed yet this spring.P1090110

My favorite this week was taken with my iPhone 6 Plus by my brother-in-law during our visit to Colonial Williamsburg.IMG_2950

I liked the sunshine on the horse’s mane in this shot. This, too, was taken in Williamsburg.IMG_2931

Once again, it is question and answer time with Cee! She reminds us: With your answers, please remember we are in the SYW world and which may not always match our reality. I hope you’ll share your answers, too!

If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather wear: glasses or contacts?  Or what do you use if you need to have your vision corrected?
I wear contact lenses when driving, or out and about. No lenses needed at home – except for watching television – which is when I wear glasses.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?
This sign at the botanical garden suits me as I try to slow down and enjoy every moment.

Was school easy or difficult for you? How so?
The only difficulties that come to mind were the adjustments from a small elementary school to “junior high,” now known as middle school, and the move from there into the even-larger high school.

Would you rather take a 1- or 2-week vacation with an organized tour or take a cruise of your choice?
Neither of those options appeal to me. I’d rather be on my own schedule, and preferably on dry land!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful to be an American with freedom to live life as I choose, I’m looking forward to Miss B turning three!
