  1. Love the duck – looking so pretty as she struts. Perhaps a drake may take a fancy to her this Spring…the Downy Woodpecker looks so patient as she awaits the maître d finding her a seat at the feeder…

    • She usually has a drake (or two) escorting her to our lavish watering hole (birdbath) or the neighbor’s pool. Seeing what they do to the water in the birdbath, I’m glad we don’t have a pool! Loved your description for the Downy waiting to be seated.

  2. Nice shot of “Pretty Bird,” the mallard. Wasn’t it you from whom I learned that woodpeckers have two front facing claws and two back facing claws so that they could hang on when taking an awkward position? Nice picture of it also.

  3. My woodpeckers take the same pose! Usually it’s the nuthatch who is on the suet feeder and they are waiting to take its place. Lovely shot of the mallard – I especially like the green tones on her beak. Almost looks like copper patina.

    • We had a Red-breasted Nuthatch winter with us one year. I do think they spend more time upside down than right-side up! You have a good eye to notice the duck’s beak, and I agree with your description! Thanks!

  4. Mrs. Mallard is beautiful! The downy is cute just hanging around. They are so much fun to watch! Thanks for joining Friday’s Hunt. Sorry I’m so late visiting this week.
