Friday’s Hunt v2.15

Friday’s Hunt

Hurricane Matthew has kept us busy this week as we tried to prepare for the unexpected. Watching. Waiting. Praying for those of you to the south of us who still bear much of the storm’s wrath, may you and your loved ones be safe. We have heavy rain, expecting 8-12 inches with 60 mph wind gusts; a flash flood warning now in effect. Internet is spotty today, makes trying to post a test of my character!

I apologize for not getting to visit your blogs this week, hopefully this week will be better.

This week we’re looking for Starts with O, Week’s Favorite, and Eyes.

is for Overcast sky.

VA and Marine Sci Ctr

My Week’s Favorite (the only picture I’ve taken this week) is the Encore Azalea.

These were the first Eyes that came to mind–a Cooper’s Hawk–who keeps an eye on the backyard birds.

    • Thanks, Sandra. We’re OK. Some are still without power, some high water yet. I was glad to get out of the house for a little bit today (along with everyone else, it appeared). I know the states you mentioned really took a beating.

    • Thanks! I almost missed it, too caught up in other things. This azalea did really well this year. We put it in two years ago, and we didn’t think it was going to make it.

  2. Hi Patti, thank you for sharing your photos and post with Today’s Flowers, very much appreciated. The azalea is gorgeous and the Coopers Hawk very handsome. I also enjoyed the Gull flying into that stormy sky. Stay safe and like you my thoughts are with those who have had to deal with this hurricane.

  3. Am saying prayers for everyone living in the area of the hurricane, that you all may come out safe! The azalea is beautiful – we had one standing by the front door of our previous condo – exact same color:) Would love for a hawk to come to my yard – you must live at a higher altitude? Many thanks for your efforts to post and to share at SEASONS! Hope fervently you won’t get out of electricity or internet! Have a safe week!.

    • Prayers are always appreciated. We came through without any trouble, others in our area weren’t so fortunate. There’s been a lot of flooding, trees down, and power outages. We’ve had a lot of rain, so water levels were up to start with. Add another 12″ and there’s nowhere for it to go. We’re in Virginia Beach, about 18 feet above sea level. The Atlantic flyway brings a lot of migrating birds our way. Thank you so much!

    • Thanks, bettyl! We came through just fine, your prayers are appreciated. There’s still a lot of floodwater with nowhere to go, and power is being restored to those without. Someone mentioned on FB they’d been without electricity for 45 hours.

  4. Beautiful series. I do hope you weathered the storm safely. Thanks so much for joining in Friday’s Hunt. Sorry I’m so late to get around visiting this week (Obviously, I blame some goats).
