Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 66

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 66

Sharing some randomness today.

1. There’s been a lot of activity on our road lately, road work/dump trucks/noise. Today, we finally figured out what they were preparing to do–milling and paving. Yay, new road soon!

2. I’m missing the White-throated Sparrows this winter. I’ve only seen three. In previous years we’ve had a dozen or more.

3. Why do football play-offs and the warmest day of winter (66*F) happen on the same day? Hubby was weary from a 12-hour workday, Saturday, so we stayed in and watched football.

4. Our Painted Bunting must have moved on. I haven’t seen him since early December.

5. This pigeon is a regular customer. It’s been frequenting our feeder since 2008.

  1. That is fun news about the pigeon… that it is a regular. We would like to think that Mr. Tanager that returns every year around April 15 is a repeat resident. Being red with no other distinguishing marks we don’t know and lately there have been three male Tanagers and a couple of females. But a certain Mr. Tanager comes to the tree by the porch every year to talk to CH and he follows CH all over and talks to him as he does spring stuff in the yard. Like Tex, hope the bunting found a warmer place to wait out winter. A new road… always nice 🙂

  2. Winter has been unusually cold in Arizona this year, not like the northern world, of course, but too cold for this woman. Looking forward to more sunshine soon. Love the colorful painted bunting. Great photo. All of them are lovely, but those rich colors catch my eye. Blessings…

  3. Such a variety of birds you have and your photography is wonderful! The only birds I have seen at our feeder so far this winter are Tufted Titmice. 🙂 or is it Tufted Titmouses? They have that little pointy crest on top of their heads.
