Macro Monday

We visited our local botanical garden Sunday, which included a walk through the butterfly house. The attendant handed this Monarch butterfly to hubby.

  1. When the kids were little, we used to collect Monarch chrysalises and watch the Monarchs hatch out. We were once in Mexico where the Monarchs migrate. It was unbelievable – the air, road, trees, etc. were thick with Monarchs!

    • I can’t imagine what it would be like to see them en masse, how exciting! I did that with Black Swallowtail chrysalises one winter. The experience of seeing them emerge never got old.

    • Yes, Beth Ann, she had it sitting on her finger, and had shared it with others, so she brought it to us to hold, too. It seemed quite content to be the center of attention.

  2. hubby gets photo bombed a lot but he never sees himself. your hubby is handsome.. LOL… i have never been in a butterfly house and would love to. i had a red admiral sit on my chest and shoulder twice in the back yard. i held out my hand and he lit, talk about butterfly kisses, so light

  3. How lovely! Monarchs were common in northern Ohio from where I came. I don’t see many now, but that could be attributed to the fact that I am not a child spending lots of time outdoors. They are beautiful. Blessings to you and your hubby….
