Friday Fictioneers–10 January 2014

Friday Fictioneers, under the wise tutelage of Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, is a fine consortium of scribes who astound and confound the blogosphere with their 100-word stories on a weekly basis. A photo prompt is chosen, revealed on Wednesday, and the cacophony of keyboards everywhere fills the air. This is our photo prompt for this week, and my story follows. I was a bit chatty this time,Β  with a surplus of four words. Read ’em and weep.

House Built on the Rock

Becky was devoted, at the boss’s beck and call.
She saw herself as Cinderella, with no hope of attending the ball.

Joe loved Becky, and wished to free her of the hassle.
He knew just the thing–he’d buy her a castle.

He perused the internet, eBay and Amazon.
He found an online contest, and by golly, he won!

The fine print described a palace of pink,
High aloft, at the edge of the brink.

A weekend getaway was planned.
(He chose not to tell her until they reached land.)

They hopped aboard a fishing boat,
And set out to ferry across the moat.

  1. Where matters of the heart are involved the vision is altered. I think Becky will see the possibilities, even if only as a getaway on weekends! πŸ˜‰
    A fun read, Patti!

  2. LOL, nicely done Patti. Not sure how stressed-out Becky is going to like the castle when she gets there. Hope Joe hasn’t brought a picnic basket with any knives in it. πŸ™‚

  3. When Joe saw the castle
    he was mighty distraught
    and feared his sweet Becky
    would hate what he’d bought
But shen she looked in the door
    she giggled with glee
    “Thank God, it’s a bathroom
cause I sure need to pee.”
