Yard Bunnies

Mama and baby came for a visit. Click on the first photo for slide show of larger pictures with captions. Bunnies are always welcome in our yard.

We had a tornado warning late this afternoon. I was in the middle of grilling burgers outside. When it was time to flip them, I brought them inside and finished cooking them on the stove/range. The rotating clouds didn’t touch down, so we had much to be thankful for when we asked the blessing over our meal.Β

  1. Scary weather yesterday for sure! Glad there was no damage. Well, thanks to Liquid Fence, I’m able to have a few flowers. Yesterday morning, I opened the blinds to find a bunny having one of my zinnias for breakfast. I ran out in my pj’s with the Liquid Fence! Maybe I could round up all of these bunnies and bring them to you….??? πŸ˜‰

    • I haven’t heard of Liquid Fence, Dianna. I didn’t know they’d eat zinnias. Ours used to nibble either the mondo or Aztec grass, but I put catmint and irises in that bed now. Send ’em over! πŸ™‚

  2. I’m thankful you all are okay. We had some gnarly weather in our region last night. Scary stuff.
Your bunnies are such good fun to watch. I like the Mama helping the wee one. So sweet! I think of you each afternoon when I watch bunny placing/feeding at the edge of the yard and in my flower bed. I don’t have any good photos as clear as yours,
but I do have a video of one that’s pretty neat. If I can get my new video converter program to work, I’ll try to share it on my blog sometime. I wish I was smarter at editing videos and converting them and all that tech stuff. I feel so stupid sometimes… :/

      • You make a good cheerleader. You should be a motivational speaker. πŸ™‚
I thought of you again when our local bunny came out of the woods yesterday and was feeding in the lawn. I grabbed my camera and took a couple photos of it.
I’m going to post it for wildlife Wednesday. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Pix. “Boing” is about what it looked like! That little one had a lot of energy. At least our tornado warnings are few and far between, I’d rather not have to put up with them on a regular basis! Yes, we had hamburgers. Come on over and I’ll make you one…we have sunshine today. πŸ˜€

        • A burger isn’t finished until topped with cheese, Pix! Our weather is the same. I weeded for a very short time this morning. I have confidence the rest will be there when I go back! Enjoy your day!

  3. Cute cute cute! We were wondering about tornadoes too yesterday – driving home from Leesburg from our granddaughter’s high school graduation. Coped with mighty strong rain storms and vicious skies all the way back. Thank goodness no tornadoes though.

    • I’m thankful I wasn’t out in the car at that time, Dor, and glad you made it home safely. We’ve driven through some of those storms a time or two, not fun at all.

  4. I’m glad to hear that you welcome bunnies to your yard…so many people view them as nothing more than a nuisance…the babies are so cute!! Glad you didn’t have the tornado touch down…

    • I don’t have a vegetable garden, and there’s nothing in our yard they choose to munch other than grass/clover, Patti. So many people use lawn services and chemicals here, or have dogs, so the bunnies tend to like our yard. It’s a safe haven.

  5. Bunnies are adorable. So far, they haven’t overeaten in our yard so I don’t mind them hanging around. At our last house, they kept eating our lantana plants down to twigs, so I finally resorted to sprinkling powdered fox urine around the plants until they were established. The bunnies weren’t harmed and they still came by for water, compliments of our drip system πŸ™‚
