One evening last week, I captured these brilliant sunset photos.
He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” NIV Bible Matthew 16:2-3

Beautiful photos. We hear the expression: “Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor, take warning.” But not many folks know that is taken directly from the Bible.

I had heard it before learning the source, too, Dianna.

Yes, brilliant. The sunrise here was just cloudy with pink colors. And I note Dianna’s comment. So true that we don’t always recognize that common expressions come from the Bible. I think of “handwriting on the wall” for example. When I read Emily Dickinson, I can see a lot of Scriptures too.

It’s a treasure to find those things woven into the fabric of a story or poem, Ellen. I remember the first time I read in the Bible about the “writing on the wall” in Babylon. It was an “aha!” moment.

Beautiful photos depicting your word. The Word from God is inspiring. We see stormy skies on the world’s horizon all the time. Our awesome God commands the universe. We need not fear the storms of life.
I’ve not had time to blog. I’m on my iPhone. Just wanted to drop in, and I’m glad I did. Your post has enriched my day.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous…you take the most beautiful pictures…do you keep your camera with you all the time?

Thanks, Patti. I try to, because if it isn’t with me, I miss something! One afternoon I was driving home and was amazed at the golden glow on the autumn leaves–no camera. I noted the time, and hoped to return to that area, and that was the day I got these, instead.
